Potential candidates for Mayor and Council must meet the following criteria:
- a Canadian citizen
- 18 years old or older on election day
- Must be Manitoba resident
- A qualified voter of Hamiota Municipality
- Not disqualified by law
To become a qualified candidate, a person must do the following steps:
- Submit a registration form.
- Perform the nomination process
Registration Process
Candidates for mayor or council MUST register with the Senior Election Official before soliciting donations or incurring any campaign expenditures.
- Obtain the Candidate package from the SEO. The Candidate package contains all documents required for the election.
- Fill out the registration form and all applicable consent forms.
- Potential candidate must return all forms to the SEO in-person. The SEO will then authorize the candidate and provide instructions for the nomination process, allowing the candidate to commence an election campaign.
Registration for candidates for Mayor begins on Friday, May 1, 2026 and ends at 4:30PM., Tuesday, September 22, 2026
