Fibre optics allows data to travel at the speed of light. This is the fastest data can travel (unless there is a major scientific breakthrough, which is not on the horizon). <\/span><\/p>\n

Fibre Optic lines have been brought into the Hamiota Municipality. The Hamiota Municipality has an agreement with the area\u2019s Fibre Optics Co-op. The Co-op provides a trunk line of fibre optics to Hamiota. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fast internet is available in the Hamiota urban area. Fast wireless internet is available for those in rural areas of the municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n

Urban vs. Rural<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The municipality splices fibres off the trunk to go to buildings within town. <\/span><\/p>\n

The municipality also wires fibres to a tower than transmits wirelessly (Wi-Fi) to additional towers in the area for rural Hamiota area buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rural customers that are within line of sight to a tower can get a modem and Wi-Fi access.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speeds<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Midwest Hi Speed Internet only offers the tops speeds for all accounts. We do not throttle speeds or restrict data usage. \u00a0You get the highest speeds for a low price.<\/span><\/p>\n

Urban Hamiota works on a Fibre To The Home (FTTH) system. It has download speeds up to 1 gigabyte per second (GBps) and upload speeds up to 1 GBps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rural Hamiota works on a Fast Wireless system. It has download speeds up to 100 megabytes per second (MBps) and upload speeds up to 100 MBps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plans<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

Our plans are very straight forward in their classification and you will fit into only one category, so no need to go through comparison charts to figure out which plan fits your needs. We give you unlimited data at the fastest speed. Because there is only one plan and no data caps, you will not find yourself with overage charges.<\/span><\/p>\n

The majority of the price for each plan is debt repayment for the fibre optics lines, which is fixed and will not change for the first 20 years. However, there is a portion of the price of each plan is used to pay for tech support and capital improvements, the prices of each are market driven and can change.Therefore prices for our plans will not change dramatically over the next decade.<\/span><\/p>\n

If at any time you would like to change providers, you are not locked into a long-term contract. We only require you to give us 30 days notice (as per the terms of the contract).<\/span><\/p>\n
